With the release of Nas's newest album, Life is Good, I, along with a lot of other people, was surprised to hear an album that was actually really good. I felt like the album as a whole was paying homage to the sound the propelled him to fame, all while keeping current on the lyrics that has made Nas a hip hop legend.

Lately I have been wearing a lot more t-shirts. For the longest time I loved button ups and polo shirts, but now that I have to wear a collared shirt for my job I tend to stay away from anything that resembles dress clothes.
Raphael Saadiq was a smooth well polished performer who’s music fit perfectly for a summer night in the park.
As the headliner for this year’s second Twilight concert, Saadiq, brought with him a whole stage of passionate performers that included pianos, drums, horns and backup singers. Each artist meshed well together, but also got their own chance to shine as they showed the crowd what they could do in between Saadiq’s popular hits. Last Friday night I went to my first ever Rooftop Concert in Provo, UT. Having never been to one before I was surprised to see the amount of people that came out to hear some music and hang out in downtown Provo. Ever since moving up to Draper, I rarely enjoy going back to Utah County, but due to the evening’s lineup I felt compelled to jump in my car and make the trip. Headlining the night’s concert was a Tom Petty cover band comprised of local musicians, and opening was Provo’s own hip hop duo Chance Lewis and APT.
Between it raining all day, and this being the first Twilight Concert to charge admission, I assumed the crowd would be smaller than it was. Unfortunately there was still a heavy mix of drunks, d-bags and people who couldn’t care less about the music. The award of the night definitely goes to a group of guys wearing camo shorts and basketball jerseys. One of them had a statue of liberty hat on, and at one point started spraying people with a can of silly string while his drunken friend made out with a fat girl. I should have snapped a photo.
Today is the first concert of the 2012 Twilight Concert Series. For anyone who does not know the Twilight Concert Series brings an amazing line up of bands each year to come play in downtown Salt Lake City.
I recently hit the one year mark at my job. The company I work at is called 4life, and the best way I can describe the company is that they sell health supplements. It is an MLM (multi level marketing) company, which means people sign up to be able to buy and sell the products themselves. Utah is somewhat infamous for this type of company, with one of the larger examples being Nu Skin. For anyone outside of Utah just think Mary Kay or Amway.
Luckily, I work somewhat detached from the business side of things, and instead work for their non-profit charity organization, which is called Foundation 4Life. I do a little bit of everything at work including writing, Spanish translation, online marketing, work with international offices, and help track donations. |
