With the release of Nas's newest album, Life is Good, I, along with a lot of other people, was surprised to hear an album that was actually really good. I felt like the album as a whole was paying homage to the sound the propelled him to fame, all while keeping current on the lyrics that has made Nas a hip hop legend. I really was not sure what to expect from his live show, but I thought Nas struck a good balance of playing past hits and new material. What impressed me most was his calm and cool demeanor. Unlike newer musicians that rely on lights, tricks and back up dancers Nas simply takes the stage and does what he does best, raps. No gimmicks no pretension just good music. Nas is one of those artists that people put on their bucket lists to see live in concert. Lucky for me it only cost $5 to see him on a warm summer night. Unluckily, I was joined by about 20,000 other people, and as usual there were some annoying ones. Strangely enough the guy that should have annoyed me the most really just made the concert. He was drunk and obnoxiousness, waving around his pony tail like he was in a Willow Smith music video, but the absurdness eventually gave way to laughter as I grew a weird admiration for the man. Party on pony tail man, and don't ever let anyone, or common sense for that matter, stop you. Finally just to reiterate my point from my last concert rant, here is documented proof of someone with a baby on their shoulders in the middle of a large crowd. Hard to spot, but trust me its there.
