Lately I have been wearing a lot more t-shirts. For the longest time I loved button ups and polo shirts, but now that I have to wear a collared shirt for my job I tend to stay away from anything that resembles dress clothes. This change in preference has meant a continuing pursuit of acquiring more t-shirts. I rarely go out of my comfort zone of a solid colored v neck, but I will occasionally make an exception for a band’s t-shirt or something I pick up on vacation. However, every now and then a t-shirt will be so awesome that I must go completely out of my comfort zone and buy something totally different. The last t-shirt that fell into this category for me was an awesome monster t-shirt created and designed by local artist and illustrator Jess Smart Smiley. The t-shirt I ordered from him was definitely worth the money. For less than 20$ not only did I get the awesome t-shirt, but free shipping, a comic book, a couple custom temporary tattoos, and it was all delivered in my very own personalized packaging. For me it is a testament to buying local and from independent people. Not only is it a great value, but I get something that is unique and different. This fact was especially apparent when I wore the shirt out for the first time and got more compliments and comments than I have in a long time.
The worst part about having an awesome new t-shirt is not being able to wear it every single day. Some day that might be socially acceptable, but until then I have to switch things up. Anyone out there who knows where to get awesome original t-shirts feel free to share and leave a comment.
