Lots of Different things this week, let’s see if I can write half of them down. Week started awesome, with an old musical favorite, Postal Service releasing a new single in preparation for their new tour and 10 year aneversiary of the release of their album Give Up. I am seriously considering going to see them play their Las Vegas show, but have a lot of work stuff going on in April that will make that difficult. Also opening for a handful of the shows will be Baths. I first saw this guy play a show in SLC a couple years ago and have really enjoyed his music ever since. Definitely give him a listen if you have not already. Melanie and I got some late Christmas presents from Germany that included a hand carved, hand painted Nativity set, and this awesome photo of My Dad and Missy. Maybe they have been in Germany for too long. Monday of this week was also interesting to hear that Pope, Benedict XVI, announced his resignation. As a Mormon I don’t completely understand how or why a Pope would resign, but something seems weird about it. I listened to the State of the Union address on Tuesday night, and I really only remember three things. One, Apple is going to start manufacturing iPhones in the US. Two, Obama wants a national preschool program, which I think would be a good thing. If you don’t agree with that it, check out this story. Third, and last thing I took away from the State of the Union address was Obama’s argument to raise the national minimum wage. This subject I am a little torn on. It’s easy to say, who wouldn’t want a higher minimum wage? It sounds great in theory, but there seems to be some valid arguments against it. Below is the over simplified bullet points stolen from the internet.
Thursday was Valentines Day. Probably the lamest holiday in the world, unless you are in elementary school and get to exchange Valentines Day cards. Melanie had to work that night, so I got off easy with the overpriced flowers, candy etc. One good thing to come from this years V-Day was a new free single from my group Vinyl Monster. We decided to finally record and give out one of the very first songs we ever worked on together. Go give it a listen and even download it for Free from our Bandcamp page. This week there was also tons of videos from an asteroid that hit in Russia. Another big news thing from this week was the Christopher Dorner stuff happening in California, but I wont go into all of that here. Hoping to do a separate blog post about all of that. Here are some of my favorite photos and videos from the internet this week. the Scared is scared from Bianca Giaever on Vimeo. Signs from the Simpsons. My iPhone wallpaper for the week. The Melting Joe Van Wetering Spotify playlist for the week.
